A time when
everyday was biking weather
and getting your knee down meant you’d come off.
When tyre widths came in inches not feet
and biker fashion came in one colour.
A time before
every junction got traffic lights,
traffic lights became roundabouts,
roundabouts got traffic lights,
traffic lights got cameras,
and cameras got our licence numbers.
A time when
bikers acknowledged each other
and you had to ride your bike not just hang on to it.
A time when
it didn’t matter what you rode,
just that you rode and plastic wasn’t a part of
motorcycle manufacture.
